VersaWell Inc., an emerging healthcare company, provides innovative solutions for healthier living. The company is launching UriGent® Bedside Portable Urinal, the first-in-the-world bedside portable urinal for men.  UriGent Bedside Urinal is a safe, convenient and dignified alternative for managing personal hygiene and preventing falls associated with dangerous walks to the bathroom at night.

Eric Ankerud, J.D.

Eric Ankerud, J.D.

Eric brings vast experience in corporate strategy, business development, government affairs, product development, and commercial product implementation. He has held multiple executive level positions in healthcare and biotech companies spanning over 35 years in the medical device space and 20+ years of experience helping  to build medical product companies with innovative technologies.  Eric served as an Executive Vice President of Incept LLC, a medical technology incubator managing a portfolio of medical product companies. Incept’s unique purpose-driven approach has helped its companies raise over $1.4 billion in development and venture financing, leading to over $6 billion of aggregate return to its shareholders. The devices and technologies created by Incept companies treat over 1.3 million patients every year.  In these Incept companies, Eric lead US and international commercial approval efforts for first of kind devices including cranial and spine sealants, a gynecological adhesion barrier, a flared coronary stent, and sustained drug delivery in ophthalmic applications. Eric served as Vice President, Corporate Regulatory Affairs for Boston Scientific Corporation where he was responsible for the strategic management and implementation of the company’s worldwide regulatory submission activities and served on the Corporate Innovation Team.  As Vice President, Quality, Regulatory, and Clinical Affairs for Summit Technology, Eric was responsible for gaining the first FDA approval for the LASIK ophthalmic surgical procedure launching a multi-million-dollar market opportunity.  He prepared and implemented the Excellence in LASIK educational program teaching ophthalmic surgeons how to grow their businesses with customer satisfaction. Prior to Summit Technology, Eric served as Director, Corporate Regulatory Affairs for Bausch & Lomb, and Vice President, Regulatory Affairs for C.R. Bard’s Surgical Products Group.  He began his medical products career as Legal and Regulatory Affairs Officer for Cormed, Inc., where he was involved in the innovation of first of a kind home health care product line.

Eric is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of St. Lawrence University where he received a BA with highest honors in economics and was a Rhodes Scholar nominee.  He studied law at Georgetown University Law Center and received a Juris Doctor degree, with specialization in international business law, from the Faculty of Law and Jurisprudence, State University of New York at Buffalo. Eric has been actively involved in healthcare industry associations and is a frequent, invited speaker for professional societies across the globe.

Eric is also the CEO, President, and Co-Founder of Heartfelt Dreams Foundation, Ltd., a nationwide non-profit charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the treatment experience for congenital heart defect (CHD) patients and their families through emotional, educational, and financial support, while advancing CHD awareness and education within the medical community. In his capacity leading the Heartfelt Dreams Foundation, Eric has been featured in television, radio and print media interviews and has been widely recognized for high end philanthropy while building an effective and successful non-profit organization.  He is a published author with his memoir, Heartfelt Dreams, A Story of Perseverance, Providence, Faith, and Love, written in support of his charitable endeavors.

Dave Purcell

Dave Purcell

Dave is a successful entrepreneur and manager, having founded or co-founded several successful companies in the electronics and computer-related fields. His most notable company was Encad, Inc., which he co-founded in 1979, led as President and CEO, that became a public company in 1982, and was sold to Kodak in 2002. In 1994, he received the prestigious San Diego County Entrepreneur of the Year Award.  Dave also co-founded Ryno Electronics, which was sold to Western Micro Technology in 1985, and Bishop Electronics. Dave has also served as a board member of both private and public developmental stage companies, for which he was selected in 1996 as a San Diego Director of the Year by the San Diego Directors Forum. Dave founded Protostar in 2015 after witnessing his wife, with deteriorating mobility and health, and struggle with currently commercialized walkers. More recently, Dave invented the UPWalker®, a revolutionary upright rollator designed to provide superior stability, comfort, and mobility for users seeking a safer, more natural walking experience.  Clinical studies of this device revealed improved walking posture, safer, more stable feeling and reduced pain in legs, back, hands and wrists.  The device has been well received in the market winning awards for its innovative design and effectiveness in helping users regain mobility.  Dave has now invented the UriGent Men’s Bedside Portable Urinal. Dave brings deep industry knowledge and operational success with human factors engineering expertise to his role with VersaWell.
